Croatia raises the income threshold for digital nomads

Croatia has raised the financial threshold for obtaining a digital nomad visa. Applicants must now confirm a monthly income of at least €3,622.50, or show sufficient savings to cover the entire planned stay.
The new requirement applies to citizens of countries outside the EU, EEA, and Switzerland who work remotely for a foreign employer, foreign clients, or their own company registered outside Croatia. The minimum income is calculated as 2.5 times the average net salary in the country, so the threshold may change as that figure is revised.
The rest of the programme's conditions remain unchanged. Digital nomads can live in Croatia for up to 18 months. If the visa was initially issued for a shorter period, it can be extended, but the total stay must not exceed 18 months. After that period ends, applicants must spend at least six months outside the country before applying again.
Working for Croatian companies or providing services to local clients is not allowed under this visa. However, the main applicant's family members can move to Croatia through family reunification.
The application is submitted online, through a consulate, or at a police station in Croatia, depending on the applicant's situation. Review usually takes two to eight weeks. The main change for candidates is the higher financial threshold: income must meet the new amount and be documented as stable and tied to remote work outside Croatia.
