Turkish Airlines, a recognised leader in international air travel, has resumed flights to the Syrian capital, Damascus. This route, first launched by the airline in February 1984, was suspended in April 2012 due to the regional situation.
From 23 January 2025, flights from Istanbul to Damascus operate three times a week: on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. This schedule allows passengers from these two historically significant cities to travel conveniently between them, as well as to make use of Turkish Airlines' extensive network of international destinations.
Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi said: "We are pleased to reopen our route to Damascus, the capital of Syria. Given the historical ties between our countries, we are confident that Turkish Airlines' return will help strengthen cultural and trade links in the region. We continue to expand access to countries in the Middle East and connect the world through our unique route network."
Passengers can purchase round-trip tickets from Istanbul to Damascus starting at $299, including all taxes and fees. This price applies when booking through the airline's official website and may vary when booking through sales offices or travel agencies.
Resuming the Damascus route is part of Turkish Airlines' strategy to expand its global network. The airline currently operates flights to 352 destinations in 131 countries, offering a high standard of service and convenient travel options. The opening of the Damascus route expands opportunities for both business and leisure travel, reinforcing the airline's role as a bridge between cultures and countries.
Turkish Airlines' return to Damascus demonstrates the company's resilience and determination to keep connecting people, offering convenience and a high level of service even in challenging circumstances.
