Frequently asked questions
What documents are needed to apply for the digital nomad visa? +
To apply for the Hungary White Card, you'll typically need a passport, proof of remote work or documents on your foreign company, proof of income over the last 6 months, proof of accommodation in Hungary, and medical insurance. Documents must be translated into English or Hungarian and notarised. The exact package depends on your employment type and country of application: an employee and a business owner need different sets of documents. Translations and certification format are also best assembled for your specific case rather than a generic template.
How long does the White Card processing take? +
The official processing time for Hungary's White Card is 21 days, and a substantive decision is usually made within 30 days, not counting additional requests. In practice you should allow more — up to 3 months: consulate appointments, preparing translations, biometrics, and possible clarifications often extend the process.
Can I bring my family on the Hungary Digital Nomad visa? +
Family reunification is not provided for under the Hungary White Card. If a spouse also meets the digital nomad requirements, they can apply as an independent applicant with their own White Card. For family relocation, it's usually better to look at other grounds right away. Finding better alternatives is exactly one of our specialities.
Do you help find housing in Hungary? +
We don't work as a real estate agency for finding housing. But we can advise on what type of proof usually works for the White Card: rental, right of use, ownership, or a paid booking. If you already have an option, we'll check whether the document is sufficient for the application.
What happens after two years on the White Card? +
The maximum residence period on the White Card is 2 years (one year plus a single extension). If you need a longer term, it's best planned in advance, because Hungary must be left once the term ends. But most people find this period enough to find other legal ways to stay in Europe.
What do I need to do after entering Hungary? +
If the application was through the consulate, once approved you get a D visa for a single entry: valid for 3 months and giving 30 days to start your stay. Then you need to come to Hungary and complete the residence permit process; the card itself is sent to the address given in the application. If you applied via Enter Hungary, be sure not to miss the biometrics deadline.
