Frequently asked questions

Do I need to keep 500,000 THB in an account for the DTV visa? +

Yes. You need to confirm at least 500,000 THB (usually with a bank statement). Requirements for the statement depend on the consulate: most often the last 3 months are requested, sometimes a longer period. If you lack the required account history, we will find a consulate with suitable requirements or offer an alternative way to prepare the documents.

How does a freelancer without an employment contract apply for a DTV visa to Thailand? +

Not a problem. Various types of proof work for the DTV: a portfolio, invoices, client letters, payment documents, freelance platform profiles. We'll help assemble a convincing package for your profile. If work documents are difficult, DTV can also be obtained through the Soft Power category — with an invitation from a school.

Can I apply for a DTV visa while in Thailand or Phuket? +

No. DTV applications are submitted while outside Thailand. Consulates usually ask for a document confirming your current location in the country of application.

How long does it take to review a visa application? +

Timing depends on the place of application and completeness of the package. In many Southeast Asian countries, consulates process it in about 5–10 business days, while Moscow usually takes about 14 business days. In some cases, if the consulate requires additional approval or documents, review can extend to 2 months.

Can I apply for a DTV visa from Russia without travelling to Moscow? +

In most cases, yes. The e-Visa application is submitted online, so an in-person visit to the consulate is usually not needed. But the consulate may sometimes invite you for a visa interview.

Does the DTV visa allow me to bring my family? +

Yes. A spouse and children under 20 can get a DTV Dependent visa.

Will I become a Thai tax resident? +

The DTV visa itself does not make you a tax resident. Residency arises if you spend 180+ days in Thailand in a calendar year.

Can I work in Thailand on a DTV visa? +

No. The DTV visa prohibits working for employers inside Thailand. You may only work remotely for foreign companies or for yourself. If you want to work from an office in Bangkok, you need a Non-B visa and a Work Permit.
