Russian tourist arrivals to Cuba hit a record high

In 2024, more than 185,000 tourists from Russia visited Cuba, a record figure. This information was shared by the Caribbean nation's Ministry of Tourism.

"We are proud that the number of visitors from Russia in 2024 reached 185,800. This is an important achievement for our island and evidence of its popularity among Russian travellers," the ministry said in a statement posted on social media. "Cuba attracts tourists with its warm welcome, cultural heritage, and stunning beaches. Thank you to everyone who chooses our island for their holiday. We are always glad to welcome guests and are ready to share our hospitality!"

Cuban authorities note that Russia currently ranks third for the number of foreign tourists, behind only Canada and Cubans living abroad. One reason for Cuba's popularity among Russians is that no visa is required, thanks to an agreement between Russia and Cuba on visa-free travel for tourists for up to 90 days. In addition, the availability of direct flights operated by Aeroflot and Nordwind Airlines makes travel to the island much easier.

Earlier in the year, the Ministry of Tourism had set a target of attracting 200,000 tourists from Russia, but by December it became clear this figure would not be reached. This was reported by Tourism Minister Juan Carlos García Granda in an interview with TASS.
